Timing stage inspections around a Kalkallo build program
When to book each stage on a Cloverton or Kallo build, how much notice the inspector needs, and how to keep the supervisor on side.
In short: Every stage has a short window between finishing and being covered. Get dates from the supervisor early, book each visit in writing, and treat frame and handover as the two you never skip.
Why timing is everything
A stage inspection is only useful while the work is open. Steel disappears under concrete, bracing behind wrap, services behind plaster and membranes under tiles. On busy Kalkallo streets, the gap between a stage being ready and being covered can be a single day.
The order on a typical build
Bored piers where specified, then slab pre-pour, frame once the trusses are on, lock-up once the house is weather tight, waterproofing when the membrane cures, fixing before paint, and PCI before handover.
Getting dates out of the supervisor
Ask at the start for a rough program and a call a few days before each stage. Confirm each visit by email so there is a record that notice was given.
If you can only book some
Frame and handover usually find the most. On the reactive clay here, the slab visit is the next to add, then lock-up on double storey homes.
