Why a brand new Kalkallo rental can fail the minimum standards

The rental minimum standards that new Kalkallo houses most often miss, and how to fix them before advertising.

Kalkallo 3064 · 20 September 2026

In short: New does not mean compliant. Window coverings, blind anchors and a fixed heater are often missing on volume builds. Check all 15 standards before listing.

The rule

Since 25 November 2025 a Victorian rental must meet all 15 minimum standards before it is advertised or offered for rent.

What new builds miss

Bedroom and living room window coverings, anchors on blind cords and chains, and a fixed heater in the living area are the usual gaps on houses straight from handover.

What can go wrong later

Mould at window sills, leaks behind tiles and doors that stop locking properly appear within a few years.

Getting it checked

An inspection records each standard as met or not, with photos and what is needed to fix it.
